Summer trip!

An interesting summer trip! Spent a good 4 weeks touring the Macclesfield Canal, Peak Forest Canal and Caldon Canal. Although attractive I have to admit that they didn't live up to all the hype everyone was telling me! Family reasons meant that I had to leave the boat on the Macclesfield for a few days with some friends of my father there to look after it. This also meant that I didn't get up as high as planned and so didn't venture onto the Leeds & Liverpool or Rochdale Canals, ( a future trip may be?)

The one serious disappointment was the weather. So cold that the stove was on on occasions and so wet and windy most of the time. We probably had no more than half a dozen good days!

It was interesting to moor for the night in Bugsworth basin and a little disappointing that I couldn't get through Froghall tunnel. Cruising the River Churnet was beautiful. Possible trip for next year - Kennet & Avon! Any advice/tips from those who have done it, please let me know.
